UK Sue 45s for sale

The UK Sue label was set up in the early 1960s to release otherwise "unknown" US soul and R&B records to the British mods who are still searching for UK Sue 45s for sale some 45 years later (original mods were probably the only audience for this sort of music in the UK in the early 60's). It was formed in 1963 as a subsiduary of Island Records by Guy Stevens and it went on the release many legendary 60's soul and R&B tunes. Some of these were mischievously retitled to avoid royalty payments (no internet in 1963!) and many remain extremely obscure and hard to find. Some, of course, were actually released on the US Sue label and on other US (and UK) labels, but most are easier and cheaper to obtain on their respective original US soul label releases than they are on the UK Sue label.

Popular UK Sue 45s for sale - and not so popular

The label released many albums and 7" singles, a lot of which were very popular with the kids at 60's mod clubs like The Scene (and probably The Twisted Wheel as well) but remained unknown to the vast majority of the British public. Anyway, if you're here, it's becaused you probably know records like Mr Dynamite Sh'Mon and have coveted rare northern soul releases like Jackie Day Lee's Before it's too late - these are probably the two rarest releases on the UK Sue label. Other releases sold in much greater numbers in the 1960s and some, for example, Donnie Elbert - A little piece of Leather or Inez and Charlie Foxx - Mockingbirds, or Bob and Earl - Harlem Shuffle are all fairly easy to find and should not set you back a great deal. However, there are plenty of far more obscure soul, rhythm and blues and even jazz releases on the label which are much more difficult to track down and if you want a complete collection of UK Sue 45s, you're going to have to work for it!
